Government can be an anchor or a sail for an organization. It helps, once you fully understand your own operation, to look at your plan through the eyes of the government officials and regulators who will have impact on your continued success. Rick Chess serves as an expert witness in court and in arbitrations, where he continue to see how failure to “start with the end in mind” in regards to the government results what could have been an avoided catastrophe. As a state legislator, he was disappointed in the lack of personal letters from a concerned electorate, who tended to either give up or joins attack single issue groups with carbon copy correspondence. During his time as an Assistant County Attorney, Rick saw how effective government can be when a dialog is established early in the political process with those trying to gain support for their business, association or government project.  How might you improve your chances of success by starting early to look at how government might impact the long term success of your operation?
